#2 Vet in Blairgowrie, Angus
TVG (Angus) Limited T/A Thrums Veterinary Group runs a purpose-built small-animal surgery (opened in 2006) with overnight hospitalisation and separate dog/cat wards. The website states they provide 24/7 emergency care through their own team (not a third-party provider), and they also treat wildlife in collaboration with the SSPCA.
From the latest reviews available, owners most often describe efficient, professional consultations and hospital care for serious illness—one review details a dog diagnosed with haemorrhagic gastroenteritis, admitted immediately, and discharged 48 hours later after inpatient treatment. Practical points also come up: a separated waiting area for cats vs dogs is mentioned, and one reviewer flags that the doors are difficult for disabled visitors.

We used Thrums Vets Blairgowrie with our dogs for the first time yesterday. They were thoroughly professional and left us feeling that our pets were in safe hands. We would recommend this practice to anyone in the area.

Have been taking my animal companions to Thrums Vets in Blairgowrie for almost 18 years - all members of the Thrums team are excellent with a few extra Brownie points going to Jen who is absolutely exceptional in her veterinary care! Thanks to you all 😊 If I could give 20 out of 10, I would!

Efficient service but quite pricey for short appointment Waiting for some time to be seen by appointment staff Not good for disabled people as doors not easy to open either way

Very competent and caring vet. We are from Germany and were very impressed by the professional test and how he did take care if our dog. Also about the research he did to give her the best treatment and the right medication. His advice helped a lot. Thank you. Lisa and Ilvy (Border Colly)

Took our cat Ziggy as he had a bad eye. We were seen exactly on time by a very nice and knowledgeable vet. Really can't fault them. Zigs totally chilled out after our visit.

I cannot speak more highly of the team at Thrums, Blairgowrie. We took our little Cavapoo, Bonnie, to them when she became quite unwell. They quickly diagnosed hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, a potentially fatal illness in dogs, and admitted her immediately, giving her wonderful care, love and medication in a spotlessly clean, comfortable pen. Forty-eight hours later, she was discharged, happy and on the road to recovery. Thank you to all the wonderful, friendly and caring staff.

Our cat needed to get her vaccinations. The first phone call to establish exactly what she needed and to make an appointment was excellent, the receptionist really knew her stuff. We chose to go on a cheap plan, which is a decent enough deal, but needing an appointment quickly, they arranged for the first month to be early. Both appointments for her vaccinations went very well, the vets are friendly and efficient, as well as clearly loving animals. Every interaction we've had with Thrums has been excellent, all the staff are friendly and knowledgeable and they are keen to help. It is fairly easy to get an appointment which suits you as well. They have a slightly separated waiting area, one for cats and one for dogs. Obviously this is a vets so don't expect to come out richer than you went in! Highly recommended.
