Want to say a massive thank you to all the team. They worked through the night to save my dogs life. 12 months later he's back to his old self again. Thank you!

I can’t thank the medical staff and front of house staff enough. My sprocker Meg was admitted as a emergancy in August with a swollen eye with a foreign body in. Long story short it turned out to be something devastatingly worse. At just 8 years old and no prior indications or anything, her wings were ready but we were not. Meg has never been apart from us, I was worried how she would do being admitted, she was there Saturday to Monday, the staff were amazing, she wasn’t worried she wasn’t down, she maybe didn’t understand but the staff made her feel safe and cared for. The staff were so kind and caring front of house and behind the scenes. Sadly we collected Meg on Monday for one last night at home before she donned her wings with her own favourite vet. The staff kept in touch with us the whole time she was admitted, they kept us informed and kept in touch with our vet as well. We all knew what was going on at every stage. Then after they helped sort the insurance claim and kept in touch, we got a lovely card a few weeks later from the staff that cared for Meg which was beautiful. She had lovely consultants, I met Chloe (eye consultant) and Karen (general med consultant) and though I never met the nurses I heard from staff how much they loved Meg and how she greeted them happily with her “sooky” and behaved well curled on her favourite blanket. The staff here are amazing. Though Meg is no longer with us, it helped knowing they made her happy and comfortable when she was in the hospital and went fretting or worrying. The staff also made sure her “sooky” was with her at all times and her blanket stayed with her as well. Not easy in such a busy environment. The hardest place to have to go knowing what could come but the staff do all they can not just for the animals in their care but to help their humans cope and deal with whatever comes and whatever the outcome might be.

We got an emergency referral to ophthalmology after my dog's eye ulcers deteriorated quickly. Edinburgh bent over backwards to get us in the same day. After spending over an hour checking him over from head to toe, and doing numerous tests, he was able to be operated on the same day. What was even more reassuring was that the vet student who'd be taking care of him in recovery was in the consult getting to know him. He came home the next day and had a follow-up appointment arranged for a few days later. They asked so many questions about him and his personality. They truly showed that even in an emergency they wanted my dog to feel as at home as possible. I was given frequent updates after surgery and couldn't have asked for more. Even with our third consult coming up his ophthalmology specialist makes the odd call to make sure she has all the information. That shows they are actively thinking about their cases between appointments. I cannot praise them enough. To top it all off my dog visits with a wagging tail and is happy to see them. He's tentatively recovering well and we may have saved his eyes. I highly recommend asking your vet for a referral here for anything ophthalmology. Natalia (the vet in charge of Gatsby) couldn't have been more thorough or caring. Update Again the staff at the veterinary hospital are going above and beyond in another way. They have offered to deal with our insurance claims on their end and without asking for an admin fee! Absolutely unheard of with other vets and specialists I've used over my 20+ years in dogs. It's the touches like this that help take the edge off nursing a recovering dog. Speaking of recovery, Gatsby is coming on leaps and bounds thanks to their proactive and diligent care. While recovering from his operations, once safe, we started a dry eye protocol as he showed some signs of it while healing. They chose an eye ointment that would be a double whammy and help clear scars and trauma from his eyes to do all we can to save his vision while doing so. Our specialist, Natalia, was upfront about them being costly and directly advised she write him a prescription for an online pharmacy (no fee) yet also offered a tube to get him started rather than wait a few days. No pressure, fully my decision with zero judgement. I opted to do both due to good insurance coverage. At every visit she makes sure to ask about signs of pain to be sure he's comfortable. Also about his routine and behaviour etc for clues of how he's feeling in himself. We all know pets exhibit pain differently and try to hide it so I really appreciate that she's very on the ball about that despite him not needing pain meds for a few weeks now. Very caring and always thinking of things some vets would assume are fine now. He still enjoys his visits and goes in tail wagging to wait to see her. Her manner is wonderful with him and lends to his comfort while his eyes are examined for 30 mins plus at a time. Healing eyes look rather scary as they get better and I feel I've had lots of support to help me appreciate the process while being reminded I can reach out via email or call anytime. I honestly can't see us ever using another specialist referral hospital unless something crops up that they don't cover. The support and care is a whole new level and I wish we lived closer to use their small animal general practice as his main vet. I say that as an owner who adores their current vet and has used the same practice happily for many years. I've added some pics to show his speedy recovery over the last few weeks. We're currently training with his new rexspecs for eye protection from sun and accidents in the future after enquiring about them in a consultation. He has had bad luck with eye accidents so we decided it'd be a good idea to let him get his freedom back once he's ready. Again, considering his quality of life outside of treatment.

Not a great deal to say. No 1 university for vetinary medicine in the UK and No 6 in the world. Facilities are second to none and place is immaculate. Staff are friendly, informal and very eager to help. Has some fantastic grounds surrounding as well.
