We have been seeing the vets recently regarding my senior dog who seems to have arthritis. We have seen both Natalie and Evelyn who have both been incredible. They have done everything they can to go through options with us both short and long term and we have developed a plan that both aids my dog and helps calm a very worried dog mum! Can't praise both the vets and the reception staff enough. Thank you!
Highly recommend vet ⭐️ our 15 year old cat Mishka had dental procedures under sedation which was a risk. Natalie took great care of Mishka who has recovered brilliantly. She also took time on several occasions over the weeks leading up to Mishka’s procedure and after to explain everything and offer advice. The treatment Mishka received was fantastic. When we picked her up post procedure one of the staff took my 11 year old through to the recovery area to see Mishka and show her where she’d been recovering. A big risk to take for an elderly cat but it has made all the difference and we hope to have her for more years to come. Thank
You Natalie and polmont veterinary clinic for providing Mishka with the best care ❤️
Had the misfortune of having my wife take a sick rabbit to this vet. The rabbit died about 3 hours after being dropped off. The bill for an IV drip and some other treatments a whopping £512. The staff were all very kind and symapthetic, but the cost was exorbitant.
I have used this veterinary practice since my dog was 8 weeks old and without issue. The reception staff are friendly and helpful and routine visits went without problem.
I'm a 75 year old pensioner and my dog is now 10 years old, I can safely say my view of this practice, vets in general and the association they seem to have with pet insurance companies has changed my view, for the worse.
It has become almost impossible to afford the extortionate cost of full insurance for a pet, and insurance companies won't pay out unless you've had multiple unnecessary injections, to keep them up-to-date, and many won't insure a dog after it's 8 years old.
I recently had urgent need to visit this vet for my complete female dog who was bleeding excessively. I was advised, by one of their multiple visiting vets, you're dog needs a full hysterectomy at a cost of £3,000, and it must be done today!
I explained that I couldn't afford that and was advised the dog was liable to die if I didn't pay for this emergency operation.
Getting no other response, I asked what alternative treatment was available, I was told that there was an injection to expel any infected puss and a course of anti-biotics - one injection today and the second tomorrow on a return visit.
I agreed to this treatment and was charged £570 and told to return in 7 days for a follow up. It was decided at the follow up to continue anti-biotics for a further 7 days at a cost of £120
The injection & anti-biotics are available on-line for £60 and £30 respectively but knowing my financial difficulty, this was never advised.
At the end of the second week I had a further follow up with another visiting vet and a trainee who checked my dog's temperature, listened to her heart and breathing and said come back in 3 months and we'll spey her, at a cost of £400. - The cost for this advice and temperature check, £62.60
I decided that I had lost all confidence and trust in this practice and contacted the PDSA hospital in Edinburgh. They asked me to take the dog in - They scanned her, listened to her heart, checked physically and discovered that she had a bleeding Polyp in her vulva.
They explained the required procedure and I agreed to them
Taking the dog in for 1 or 2 nights (became 2), immediately put her on a drip for hydration, antibiotics and painkillers and carry out a Spey operation the following morning.
The cost ...... A donation of my choosing
My dog is now safely home fully recovered and very happy
I will never trust any practice that operates on a money first approach to animal care, this Polmont practice has disgusted me, causing emotional stress through their attempts to extort £thousands while failing on 3 visits to discover what was causing the problem and then offering inappropriate treatment.
A very expensive botch up from start to finish which could have resulted in my dog's premature death!
My recent experience of all of the staff at Polmont Veterinary Practice has been exemplary. Our little dog was in a road traffic accident 6 weeks ago and we can only thank the staff, especially his vet Sarah, for all the care, time and attention they have spent on treating and managing his wounds, as well as helping me to manage his wounds at home. He has made a phenomenal recovery and I believe this is down to Sarah's care, treatment and guidance over the past few weeks, with the wonderful support from the whole team - not only have they nursed him, but they have helped him to be as happy and comfortable as he can be in attending the practice for his care and cuddles! The practice manager, Susan, has been so supportive (of which I am grateful beyond words) in helping with the financial /insurance aspect of our dogs care and this has helped me immensely in coping with the emotional aspect of of the whole incident and recovery period. Susan's input and support has taken a lot of the stress out of the last 6 weeks journey, allowing me to focus on nursing our dog and supporting my family through the whole incident without having the additional stress and worry of having to attend to the financial aspect. This was such a god-send in the immediate days following the accident when we were facing the horendous possibility of loosing our dog. Our young dog loves going to the vets now and he loves his veterinary team! The consistency of being able to see the same vet throughout the whole journey has been invaluable and we can't speak highly enough of Sarah and the team - they have turned a really difficult situation into something really positive! Thank you!!!!!
