Recent reviews add detail on what that can look like in practice: one owner describes a dog admitted in a critical condition with bloody diarrhoea/vomiting, rapid deterioration, and emergency surgery to stop internal bleeding, followed by a five-day hospital stay with regular, clear updates and involvement in decision-making. Multiple owners also mention being seen on time, not feeling rushed, and the team proactively organising insurance-linked appointments/medication—while one recent 1-star review reports the opposite experience (not enough empathy/explanations and a strong focus on payment/insurance processes).
Google rating: 4.8 stars from 325 reviews. The - Emergency and critical care: one detailed account describes rapid triage, emergency surgery for internal bleeding, and a five-day hospital stay with ongoing communication.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Links Veterinary Group - Haddington Our dog Kurama was admitted to Links Veterinary Practice in Haddington on 1 January 2026 in an extremely serious condition, suffering from severe bloody diarrhoea and vomiting. From the moment we arrived, the response from the entire team was immediate, calm and highly professional. Kurama deteriorated rapidly, and it soon became clear that emergency surgery was required to stop internal bleeding. Throughout this incredibly stressful time, the vets communicated with clarity, honesty and compassion, ensuring we understood every step and felt fully involved in the decision-making process. Kurama remained hospitalised for five days, during which he received outstanding care. We were consistently impressed by the clinic itself—extremely well equipped, spotless, transparent and professionally run—but above all by the people. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Ingrid, Geraldine, Elise, Rory, Stephanie, Tamara, Adrianna, Karen, Sue, Samantha, Nicole and anyone else supporting in the background. Each of you showed exceptional dedication, skill and genuine kindness, and we will never forget the care you gave to Kurama when he needed it most. Thanks to this incredible team, Kurama is now back home and recovering, something that felt uncertain when we first arrived. We cannot recommend Links Veterinary in Haddington highly enough and will always be grateful for everything you did for our dog and for us as a family. Thank you all—from the bottom of our hearts. 🐾❤️

Just joined Links a year ago for our cat and have been very impressed with everything about the service. Have had experiences elsewhere where long waits ( for a planned routine appointment) are the norm and there is a general feeling of being rushed. In contrast Links has done a great job of seeing us on time, taking time over the appointment and organising my next Petplan appointment and routine medication without being chased to do this. Lovely kind vets and support staff. Although my cat has not been ill so far, I feel confident that he would get an excellent service if he was.

Changed Vet for distance , did not get the empathy, time , explanations expected ..... maybe bigger and more convenient but not better. Obviously used to people not paying as this seemed to be priory and very little actually no explanation regarding procedures dealing with insurance etc. ...... they expect you to know how they work even if first use of their service. We can't speak highly enough about our experiences with Links Vet Group. Our dog is treated with so much love and care when we visit, by the vets, the nursing team and the administration team. He receives a warm welcome (many of the staff recognise him now and refer to him by name), staff listen carefully, are reassuring towards us as owners, and nothing is ever too much trouble. We are most regularly seen by the Musselburgh practice, however we also use the Haddington practice if we need a more urgent service and our experience is the same. Wonderful staff who clearly care about their patients, prompt responses to emails and phone calls, fair and transparent pricing and honest advice - we couldn't be more pleased with our choice of vets practice.

We have been at links for many years. Sylvia is our favourite vet . She is an amazing lady , so knowledgeable and goes out of her way to treat your best friend . She has the animals at heart as well as their owners . We always find that Sylvia is truthful and honest and we couldn’t be without her . We were devastated to see Peter go from reception as his personality shone through and he had a lovely calming way . The reception team are all very friendly and welcoming .
